Lexington Minuteman Re-inactment l - For the History Buff ~

The Lexington Minute Men are dedicated to honoring those brave Patriots who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our Nation's freedom.

From those who first fell on Lexington Green, to the heroes of today, we hope to continue telling the story of American Independence.

Those who join our company will enjoy reenacting 18th century life as a soldier in the militia and the Continental Army. We also participate in many ceremonial activities including parades, inaugural events, dedications, trade shows, and more.

We consider ourselves historians and enthusiastically and meticulously research our time period and those we represent.

For the history buff don't forget about the Freedom Trail in Boston

Freedom Trail

The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mi path through downtown Boston, Massachusetts, that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. Marked largely with brick, it winds between Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown. Stops along the trail include simple explanatory ground markers, graveyards, notable churches and buildings, and a historic naval frigate. While most of the sites are free or suggest donations, the Old South Meeting House, the Old State House, and the Paul Revere House charge admission. The Freedom Trail is overseen by the City of Boston's Freedom Trail Commission and is supported in part by grants from various nonprofits and foundations, private philanthropy, and Boston National Historical Park.

Acupuncture

907 Main St, Waltham, MA 02451 ·

ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture originated in China over 3,000 years ago. It is part of the holistic system of healing known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Acupuncture has proven to be a holistic, safe and effective remedy for many medical conditions.  Acupuncture is the gentle insertion of very fine needles at specific points on the body. This process stimulates movement of energy within the body, allowing natural healing to take place. Acupuncture practitioners are trained to select these points, based on over 3,000 years of experience in China.

Acupuncture helps to prevent illness by improving the overall functioning of the body's immune and organ systems. Acupuncture is helpful for treating existing illnesses and injuries, preventing both recurrence of illnesses and new illness and improving overall health.

Our Clinic is conveniently located in Waltham, MA. We have successfully used acupuncture to help hundreds of patients around Boston area.

In the West, acupuncture is most well-known for its ability to relieve pain so the majority of research thus far has been done in this area. Acupuncture points are now believed to stimulate the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord) to release pain-relieving chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord and brain. Acupuncture may also stimulate other chemicals to be released by the brain, including hormones that influence the self-regulating system of the body.

Highly competitive and recreational leagues are offered, so all skill levels can find something for them! Leagues are offered in two categories: coed or male, playing exclusively indoors. All skill levels are welcome.

Some of our more competitive leagues feature a “big game” feel with official referees, large scoreboards and timers. Many players enjoy the professional player atmosphere that these games allow.

Basketball is a popular BSSC league sport, with many teams for men and women to play year-round. Hit the court with a BSSC league in Boston.

Ultimate Frisbee, or simply Ultimate, is a non-contact sport with rules like most other team sports. While there may be a lot of running involved, there is no moving while holding the disc. And, like football, points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing team’s end zone.

We welcome players of all skill levels. You don’t need to have previous playing experience. But you should plan to join your teammates to grab a bite to eat and a few drinks after the game.

Individual men and women are invited to join one of our coed golf leagues, playing from spring through summer.  Choose leagues starting in May at the Leo J. Martin Golf Club in the Weston/Newton area or Sandy Burr in Wayland. The after-work tee times and foursomes change weekly, and people with skills ranging from advanced beginner to advanced are welcome to enroll.

Golf is a fun sport that takes a lot of patience, skill and coordination to be good. Joining one of our BSSC 9-hole golf leagues could give you that little bit of extra practice you need to excel. Playing with fellow golf enthusiasts will also get you some tips, tricks and new friends for the 19th hole!

We welcome teams and individuals of all skills levels! Grab a bite to eat and a few drinks with your teammates after the game to brag about your playground prowess, celebrate your victories and enjoy some old-fashioned camaraderie.

Busses will be cleaned and sanitized before every trip. You will be allowed to put on/off your ski boots on the bus and leave belongings on the bus. We will have trips on Saturdays and most Sundays, even if there is a limited mountain selection. Busses have wi-fi so you can get in a few hours of work on the morning ride and a few hours on the ride home.  Masks will be required per bus travel regulations, and you can see all "Enhanced Safety Protocols" to the left or click here for a PDF version.

Boxing Classes

Here at Nolan Bros Boxing and Fitness, we offer a variety of classes to best fit the individual needs of all of our members.  We are consistently adding new classes, so check in often to see what’s new at NBB!

PUNCHES & CRUNCHES
This class focuses on two of our favorite things: Pounding the heavy bag and crushing our cores!  With punches and crunches, you’ll find yourself alternating between boxing combinations on the bags and abdominal exercises on the mat.  Like all our other classes, punches and crunches is easily modifiable and is enjoyed at your own pace.

HEAVY BAG BEATDOWN

Heavy Bag Beatdown pits you against the bag.  You’ll be working various combos on the heavy bag and incorporating calisthenic exercises throughout this hour long class.  Get your pulse pounding, work up a healthy sweat, and release stress as you unleash combination after combination. Like all of our fitness classes, this class is designed to be easily modified and is perfect for all levels of experience.

ROW WITH THE PUNCHES

One of NBB’s most popular classes, Row with the Punches combines the intense boxing workout found in out heavy bag classes with a vigorous rowing workout.  Each member sets up at their own personal heavy bag and personal Concept 2 rower in this one hour class guaranteed to make to sweat!

WHAT DO I NEED FOR MY FIRST CLASS?

As you’ve likely seen by now, your first class with us is absolutely free!  You’ll need to sign a waiver (or have a parent/guardian sign one if you’re under the age of 18), wear some comfortable athletic clothing, bring a water bottle, as well as hand wraps.  We recommend 180″ hand wraps which can be purchased online through a major boxing retailer or in person at NBB (we sell pairs for $5).  We have communal gloves available to use, though we strongly advise purchasing your own.  We have gloves available to purchase at the front desk for $45.

DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP IN ADVANCE?

Classes at NBB are popular and some classes tend to fill up quickly, so we do require online registration for all classes.  Not to worry though, as we’ve made the process as fast and easy as possible!  Simply click the “Schedule and Booking” tab at the top of the website to be taken to our registration portal.  Click on a class you’d like to attend, pick a date and time, enter your name and email address, and you’re good to go!  No pre-payment is necessary, simply reserve your spot and come on by!

There is a radio call box at the launch dock pre-set to Channel 10 to hail the club launches, meet instructors or club personnel. Learn to Fly

East Coast Aero Club | New England's Largest Flight School

Understanding the flight training process can be quite baffling. This section should hopefully give you an insight into the various stages associated with the pursuit of a Private Pilot Certificate, from initial interest to issuance of your certificate.

Step 1: Take an Introductory Flight

If you are interested in learning to fly, an introductory flight is the first logical step. During your first flight, an experienced flight instructor will take you through an abbreviated lesson from preflight to tie down. You will have the opportunity to taxi the airplane and once at altitude, you will have what will likely be your first experience with flying an airplane. This will also be the first entry in your pilot logbook, as the flight time counts towards a private pilot certificate.

Step 2: Post-Flight Evaluation

Once you have completed the introductory flight you should evaluate whether you think flying is for you. For those who truly believe they want to fly, but found the first flight a bit nerve-racking, we recommend taking a few lessons. Flying in small airplanes is usually a new experience for most people and often a few flights will allow a person to become accustomed to the unique sensations that lie at the root of many a pilots’ passion for flying small aircraft.

East Coast Aero Club is committed to being your flight training partner and helping your dreams of becoming a pilot take flight!  Please review the following flight training programs we offer from both our Bedford, MA

East Coast Aero Club offers three convenient locations that serve the entire Boston metro area as well as Southern New Hampshire.  All operations are conducted at active General Aviation airports with operating air traffic control towers that are easily accessible by major highways and easy to find.
